Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars

A film based on the long running games and with a fairly snazzy title. I'm usually majorly sceptical about films based on video games and for good reason, however i think a game of this nature could possibly be adapted into a decent film if done correctly.
I can't say the summary looks too promising though 'Video game adventurers George Stobbart and Nico Collard battle evil forces across the globe for ancient relics of power.'

If thats all the writers have to go on then i feel slightly sorry but perhaps we'll find out in 2010...or it could be a film that silently get dusted under the carpet and only appears on a DVD shelf when you're not looking for it!

Alan Partridge

As most probably now know...especially if you've heard any interviews with Steve Coogan lately, a Alan Partridge movie is in the works for definite. Apparently the scripts still being worked on despite the film adaption being mentioned as early as 2006 but Coogan has been doing other things in the meantime.
According to IMDB this film isn't going to be on our screens until earliest 2011 but i still can't wait to see how it is going to be adapted and i'm hoping fans of the show won't be disappointed!

The Color Purple

I'm a bit distressed to see that they are making this book into a Musical....i enjoyed the original film adaption but a MUSICAL!!
thats all i wanted to say on the subject.

Sub-Mariner

Jonathan Mostow's film adaption of 'Sub-Mariner' still seems to be in development after all these years with David Boreanaz rumored to play the title character Namor.

Nothing on the films seems to have been changed since Mostow's return to the script in 2007 but apparently is due for 2010 so we can only keep our eyes peeled and see how this pans out.
It would be interesting to see an aquatic superhero considering we've reached the heights of flying, swinging and thumping.

Michel Gondry

A director whose films i enjoy immensely, Gondry also appears to be working on a couple of projects.
Not long after 'Be Kind Rewind' we heard tell that he would be directing another film starring Jacks Black called 'Masters of Space and Time' but it would appear that its a while until we see anything of that as its not due until 2011.

In the meantime Gondry is working on two other films the first that was apparently due this year but i strongly doubt it is 'Megalomania' an animation thats being produced by Curious Pictures and written by Gondry, Daniel Clowes and Paul Gondry.

The next in line is 'Return of the Ice Kids' which is set for 2010 and apparently follows the story of teenagers who invent a drink which makes people hear music when it's drunk. So very much a Gondry film!

we'll have to wait and see which of these films does come out first but it's nice to see that he's continuing in his trend of slightly unusual films.

Evil Dead IV

It would appear that Sam Raimi has an awful lot on his plate. He along with Ivan Raimi are in the scripting stage of the next Evil Dead installment. Whether it's going to be a prequel a sequel or simply a remake is yet to be seen as no other details are avilable.

I remeber hearing of a remake which only included Bruce Cambell as producer/director but more news as it comes.

Halo

As we know at Comic-Con in San Diego this year Neil Blomkamp and Peter Jackson made an appearance to talk about 'District 9'. Jackson also made a talk about how 'The Hobbit' was coming on and also spoke of the 'Halo' movie which after months of working on, eventually collapsed due to legal reasons and the such. At the time Neil Blomkamp said that he would not direct the film if it ever got made, and this may well be true, but the film seems to have picked itself up, dusted off and got back to where it vaguely left off.

It is true that Blomkamp is no longer attached to it which is a shame after the fantastic 'District 9', however it looks like the movie is set for 2012..so a little while yet.

Stuart Beattie and Alex Garland are still writing an Jackson remains as one of the producers with Weta closely guarding the models and armour that have already been built...so just got to wait and see who will direct.

The Wee Free Men

As an avid Pratchett fan i've been wanting to make this into a film for a very long time and was sad to hear a few years ago that Sam Raimi was going to be turning this particular book into a big screen movie. I still find it odd that it is this particular book rather than any other and that the original news appeared about two months after i had suggested it on the Terry Pratchett forum....but anyway.
The film seemed to vanish off the radar, but after a bit of research it would appear it is still in development for 2010 with Raimi still attached to direct.
Pamela Pettler (9, Monster House and Corpse Bride) is attached as screenplay writer and its being produced by Buckaroo Entertainment.

I won't make any judgements as of yet..but i feel that if the film stays in the states to be made then it could all go very wrong!

It's been a while

Right i've decided to ignore my laziness and attempt to make this blog worthwhile...so i feel that the only way to do this is scoure the internet for any bits of info i can find!
so for the time being i will not write about anything that is due to come out fairly soon but attempt to see into the future and drag some films into the fray!

Shrink

a new film starring Kevin Spacey as a shrink believe it or not. the story follows Spacey's character as he himself has a breakdown and resorts to drug and alcohol, but in the meanwhile meets a woman who is the girlfriend of one of his clients.
the trailer was released today on Apple's website so click on the image to have a gander.

Scott Pilgrim Poster

Heres a film i'm quite looking forward to and Total Film magazine just put the poster up on their website.
in the same style as Brian Lee O'malley's comics of the same name but with added info. No doubt they will introduce one sheets at some point or possibly live-action versions with a comic book feel?!?

but here is the poster

new photos from 'Year One'

Some new images from Harlod Ramis' 'Year One' have appeared over at IMDB and introduce some of the other characters we'll be seeing and maybe hint at plot details.

click on the image below to go and have a look:

i did it again

well i've been caught up in work and been twittering what i can but it means i've not posted to the blog for a while!!

let it not happen again!

Clip from Zemeckis' Christmas Carol

Trailer Addict have a little promo clip from what is bound to be a very popular film later this year.
The graphics look pretty good and the mannerisms of Jim Carrey come through perfectly so it should work out to be a good comedy/family film.

click the image below to have a peek for yourself

Funny People TV Spots

Trailer Addict have got their hands on some new tv spots for Judd Apatow's new film' Funny People'
I've got to say it doesn't look too bad and it's got a great cast of comedians so i can imagine it doing fairly well when it finally gets released in July

click the pic below to take you to Empire's site where you can watch all 3!

so much for catching up

well i lied in one of my last posts because i didn't post lots in order to catch up and now i'm even further behind.
But lets try and keep it at a constant again!

Bubba Nosferatu: Curse of the She-Vampires

Due for release in 2011, it's apparently a prequel to the 2002 film 'Bubba Ho-Tep'
the film like the original still involves Elvis but the role has apparently not been given to Bruce Campbell but 'Hellboy's' Ron Perlman.
I'm not sure if fans of Ho-Tep will be too pleased with this decision but we shall see...it's a good long wait yet!

Paul Giamatti is also among the cast and fans of Ho-Tep will at least be pleased that writer/director Don Coscarelli is in charge of the prequel as well.

according to imdb the synopsis is as follows: This prequel to Bubba Ho-Tep finds Elvis shooting a film in Louisiana when he runs afoul of a coven of she-vampires.

make what you want from that but if you want to keep an eye on it then click the image below to take you to the imdb site.

What's been Happening

There's been bits of film news bouncing around. It's mainly hype for 'Star Trek' and Coraline (anything that's coming to cinemas very soon)
However, over at Empire online they have some new posters for 'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen' which you can take a look at by clicking the pic below.

There's also news of a Wolverine sequel that stems from a section of Origins...as well as a Deadpool film!
Who would've thought that it would go from the entire x-men to a multitude of seperate films.

There has also been some new 'Inglorious Basterds' Posters and 'Harry Potter' which you can have a look at by clicking on the pic below.

I haven't been keeping up very well

I sort of lost track of things and haven't written anything for a while so i'm going to do several new posts to make up for it!

Pixars 'Partly Cloudy'

This is the new short film that i can only presume will be before 'UP'
unfortunately i missed news of the original photo although some websites have it on their blogs and the such.
The new picture is slightly clearer and shows a stork (Dumbo springs to mind) conversing with a cloud!

Transformers ShoWest

If you head over to Michael Bay's website or Vimeo you can get a look at some new footage from Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen including a peak at Devastator...all be it brief but huge!!

click on the pic below to head over to Bay's website and see it!

Extract Trailer

The new film from Mike Judge (office space, King of the Hill) and featuring the likes of Jason Bateman (Arrested Development), Ben Affleck and Mila Kunis (Forgetting Sarah Marshall).

The trailers gone online on the Apple website and looks pretty funny but the comedy aspect certainly follows that similar to 'Office Space'.
So for any fans of Mike Judge this could be a winner...and could do well based on the trailer!!

Click on the image below to see it:

Scott Pilgrim website is up!

Just as we saw with Hot Fuzz but possibly not to that extent, Edgar Wright has started saying bits about the film in the form of weekly blogs...so far there's just the one video!

I strongly recommend heading over to the website by clicking the image below!

Wolverine online a month before cinema release!!

According to news on the BBC website and some reviews on Aint It Cool, the new X-men Origins film focusing on the story of Wolverine has leaked online and has been downloaded already by thousands.
Apparently it isn't the entire film and the special effects have not been finished off but it's not great for the studios involved and i'm not sure how any of the revies that are popping up are going to effect the box office results when the film is finally released.

Click on the pic below to read an article regarding this on the BBC website!

'The Hangover' slightly longer trailer

Well despite one of my recent posts regarding this new/upcoming film, Total Film have managed to get hold of a newer and longer trailer for 'The Hangover'

if you fancy taking a look then click HERE

Is Anybody There?

A beautiful film starring Michael Caine and produced by Big Beach Films, the trailer has recently been released on Apple's website.

Michael Caine plays an old man, put into a care home, who builds a relationship with a young boy (Son of Rambows Bill Milner) who he helps live life to the full through the medium of magic.

It's on general release in cinemas April 17th

Year One Trailer

the new trailer for Harold Ramis's 'Year One' starring Jack Black and Michael Cera is now online and it looks very funny...i quite like the concept and obviously it gave Ramis a lot of possibilities to work with.

i recommend heading over to the apple site and watching it...so click on the image below and have a gander!

Where the Wild Things Are trailer!!!

That's right..there's a new trailer for Spike Jonze's 'Where the Wild things Are' and it's up on the apple site...including HD versions of it!!

I'm quite excited about this film and it looks like it could be great.

click the image below and go and watch it!!!

The Year of Yes

The Year of Yes is a film based on a book written by Maria Dahvana. Not due out till 2012..so a good long way off, which it will obviously need as the story sounds like that of Yes Man, replacing the man with 'woman'.
Apparently the book covers Maria's year as she says yes to every date she's offered!! (sounds familiar doesn't it)
Not sure what format the film will take but we'll see in a year or two!!

The Hangover

The new film from Todd Phillips (old school, Starsky and Hutch) entitled 'The Hangover' looks set to be a rather funny film about a guy who, along with some friends, has a bachelor party which gets out of hand in drink consumption, and his friends wake to find him missing and unable to re-count anything from the night before!

The trailers very funny and hopefully it's not all the comedy that can be found within the film which is due out in June.

Click on the pic and check out the trailer:

X-Men Origins: Magneto

Could Magneto be next in line for the X-Men start over series?
It's clearly in production but whether another character will fill the gap between this and Wolverine is yet to be announced.
The film is being directed and co-written by David S. Goyer who's also helping to pen the script for 'The Flash'.
So it's comic book films for him for a while!

I think Magneto's origin story could potentially be a lot better than that of Wolverines due to the amount of Wolverines story tht was already covered in the original X-Men films. But i'm unsure what characters they'd bring into it and whether at any point the would use Ian McKellen or whether he'll be working on the Hobbit by this time!?

Warcraft

I suppose it was only a matter of time before this came about and it looks like it's set for 2011!
Then again as there is no info on it i could be mistaken in guessing it's linked to the games franchise! But with a multitude of stories from the original Warcraft games and an ever expanding online fan base whoever's making it will probably know the target audience pretty much straight away. The story from the third game is probably the best in terms of filmic storylines but as i say i could be wrong and it could merely be a title for something wholly unrelated.

Pee-Wee's playhouse- The Movie!!

According to IMDB this film not only stars Paul Reubens but is being written by him. With no one else on board it seems like a desperate strike back into the mainstream but will anyone in this day and age get it?

Although Pee-Wee's playhouse was never released in the UK as it was a TV show in the States i'm well aware of it and i thoroughly enjoyed the two films that came from Pee-Wee;s character, but i'm sceptical as to how a completely bonkers TV show with its strange array of characters is going to be made on the big screen.

Marvin the Martian?

Could this be THE Marvin??
There's absolutely nothing on this film at the moment other than the title..but it caught my eye!! I don't know what company would be making this but if it turns out to be Warner Bros then we'll at least know who it's about!

Fraggle Rock Movie

It would appear so! Set to be released in 2011 and written and directed by Cory Edwards the Fraggles leave the rock and head out into the human world.
I can only presume this will be made using puppets like the original series...i'm wondering if they'll film any of it in Cornwall where the lighthouse at the beginning of each episode is located.

Should be fairly good or at least nostalgic if the Henson company are going ahead with it.
Guess we'll have to wait a good while yet to see how the film develops.

Earthworm Jim...We think he's mighty fine!!

I used to love the Earthworm Jim games..and the cartoon series certainly had its moments too so i suppose it was only a matter of time until someone approached a studio to make the franchise into a film.
Obviously there's not much info about it yet...which includes no cast and no indication of what direction they'll take it, whether it will be CG or live action or even 2D.
Click on the pic below to go to the IMDB page!!

Death at a Funeral again??

I was just browsing up and coming films for 2010 and came across THIS

It seems a bit odd that Chris Rock appears to be co-penning a script for a film that only came out a year or so ago and was directed by Frank Oz...HERE

so what's the deal!! I can only imagine it's being remade to target a large American audience as Frank Oz's was set in England..but to remake the story just seems like a waste of time! Besides i really enjoyed the first one and don't want to see Chris Rock shout his way through another film!

Where the Wild Things are!

Well a poster came out only a few days ago and now USA Today has managed to get hold of some new shots from the film itself. It Looks like Spike Jonze has kept to the style of the book to the letter and i can't wait to see the final product!
Here are a couple of the photos or you can click HERE to see them all!!

Alice in Wonderland Pic

Over at 'Total Film' they've managed to get a scan from the new specialist Disney magazine D23 from Tim Burton's upcoming film adaption of 'Alice in Wonderland'.
Filmed mainly in Plymouth UK it's set to be a cross breed of live-action and CGI and it will be interesting to see what he makes from the original story considering the numerous adaption's that have been made before.

Apparently in the D23 magazine their were also pieces about 'Toy Story 3' and a pic of Depp as the Mad Hatter...we'll have to wait and see if anything pops up online within the next few days or so.

clcik on the image to go to the 'Total Film' site and see a few other images.

Alien Trespass

This film has all a B-Movie fan may want, other than black and white. Directed by X-Files producer/director/writer R.W. Goodwin this film looks about as daft as they come when it boils down to an alien invasion. Not sure how it will fair or how wide its release will be but i wouldn't mind seeing ti just to see how truly ridiculous it is!
If you fancy watching the trailer click on the image below!

The Velveteen Rabbit

I've just watched the trailer for a new real life/animated film apparently based on a book. All i can say from watching the trailer is that i'll be surprised if it does well in cinemas. Penned as a family film it certainly shows through but looks badly made and has a very 80's touch to it.
If you want to read the synopsis and see the trailer for yourself click the image below.

Michel Gondry for 'The Green Hornet'

This is amazing news. According to Empire Online, Michel Gondry (Eternal Sunshine, Be Kind Rewind) is set to direct the film adaption of comic series 'The Green Hornet' starring Seth Rogen. Originally Stephen Chow (Kung Fu Hustle) was meant to direct i believe, but he decided not to although he is still apparently going to be acting within the film.
I'll post more about the film when news arises.

Get the full and slightly more detailed story by clicking the image below!

Kung Fu Panda 2

According to the Dreamworks Animation site despite this news being back from October 2008...they are definitely going to continue the Kung Fu Panda franchise...how far they take it, nobody knows!! I can only hope they don't decide on a trilogy and ruin it...although there's news going about that Shrek 4 is also going to be made.
I don't mind Dreamworks animations and they've brought out some great ones, but i hope they move on to new projects other than renewing old ones. However, although i say this, i am looking forward to 'Monsters Vs Aliens'.

The next installment of Kung Fu Panda however will not be out until 2011...and in the meantime they have another project 'How to Train your Dragon' set for 2010!

when more news of this arises i shall post it.

S.Darko Trailer

Why they thought it would be a good idea to make a sequel type thing to Donnie Darko is beyond me....it's been in production for some time and talked about on various websites with different levels of interest!
But finally the trailer is online...not that it's anything special and the film is set for straight to DVD anyways!

Check out the trailer using the image below!

Funny People trailer

The Trailer for Judd Apatow's new film 'Funny People' is now online..in various places!
The cast is pretty good and a couple of regular's of Apatow's appear..namely Seth Rogan! The story follows Adam Sandler, a stand up comedian who may well be dying and enlists Rogan to help him write some material and various things ensue. If you watch the trailer you'll get the jist fairly quickly!

so go check it out HERE
or alternatively search for it on YouTube.

Scott Pilgrim

Just a photo that Edgar Wright had posted on his blog on MySpace....I really hope this film will be as good as the comics!!

Noah's Ark: The New Beginning?

Searching around IMDB can sometimes offer you unexpected results...I came across this film which i had never heard of and apparently it was due for release in 2008 but its information states it's in Post-Production!
Wether it will come out or not is another matter but we shall see...it looks like it's meant to be an animated film and would explain why it's late...that mixed with the writers strike probably didn't help.
It has a fairly good cast though with voice actors such as Jason Lee (My Name is Earl, Mallrats) and Eliza Dushku (Buffy, Tru Calling, The New Guy).
I'll keep my eye out i think, just in case....but if you want to check it out for yourself click HERE!

Fanboys

A definite film if, like the title, you would consider yourself a fanboy!
The film follows a group of friends who are attempting to get into Skywalker Ranch to see Star Wars Episode One before its release...there's a ton of geeky references throughout the trailer such as encounters with various cast of the original Star Wars, a meeting with a fake Harry Knowles and of course William Shatner.
It's probably your typical teen comedy in terms of a mixture of slapstick, girls and some witty banter but i can only presume that it's going to do fairly well amongst the Star Wars and comic book fans around the globe!

Check out the trailer by clicking on the pic!

Planet 51

I realize the trailers been online for a while now but i've only had time to catch up recently!
Anyway, 'Planet 51' is a new CGI film from Sony pictures and is a story that follows an American astronaut Captain Charles "Chuck" Baker as he land on a planet inhabited by green aliens. It's sort of a twist on the sci-fi genre in terms of alien invasions but the trailer does have a chuckle at moment when 'Chuck' does the moon landing routine.
There's a few other sci-fi references such as a dog with a head of an 'Aliens' alien.
for a slightly better description of the film and the trailer click the image below!

Monsters Vs Aliens new poster and Trailer

Once again a bit of news on this film from Dreamworks animation. There's some info on it in one of my previous posts but Yahoo Movies have revealed the films new poster which you can see below...i'm quite looking forward to this film and recently during the Superbowl they played a 3D version of the new trailer which can still be viewed at the official website here
Mind you this will only work if you've got a pair of the Intru3d glasses that were given away in American shops....but if you have a bit of cunning and some lighting filters you could bodge together your own pair!!

The Boat that Rocked posters!!

Empire Online have just got their hands on some new posters for Richard Curtis's upcoming film 'The Boat that Rocked'
for more information on the film check out one of my earlier posts or head over to the Working Title Films website.

To take a look at all the posters click here

Jamie Bell is Tintin!!

According to news over at Empire Online, Jamie Bell is set to be Tintin in the adaption of 'The Secret of the Unicorn'.
This is great news as Bell is a fantastic actor and i'm sure will look the part and Daniel Craig as the evil pirate Red Rackham.
The rest of the cast is looking great as well and with Steven Moffat (dr who), Edgar Wright (Hot Fuzz) and Joe Cornish (Adam and Joe) penning the script and Spielberg directing i can barely wait.
I'll try and keep up with news on this film as it comes.

Watchmen Viral

According to Empire Online there's to be a new viral for watchmen going online today!
anyone that has the Watchmen widget will probably already know about this...but for those who don't it's going to be a newsreel concerning Dr Manhattan.

The video is to appear at www.thenewfrontiersman.net

but is currently online at www.betterbluethanred.com
