Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars

A film based on the long running games and with a fairly snazzy title. I'm usually majorly sceptical about films based on video games and for good reason, however i think a game of this nature could possibly be adapted into a decent film if done correctly.
I can't say the summary looks too promising though 'Video game adventurers George Stobbart and Nico Collard battle evil forces across the globe for ancient relics of power.'

If thats all the writers have to go on then i feel slightly sorry but perhaps we'll find out in 2010...or it could be a film that silently get dusted under the carpet and only appears on a DVD shelf when you're not looking for it!

Alan Partridge

As most probably now know...especially if you've heard any interviews with Steve Coogan lately, a Alan Partridge movie is in the works for definite. Apparently the scripts still being worked on despite the film adaption being mentioned as early as 2006 but Coogan has been doing other things in the meantime.
According to IMDB this film isn't going to be on our screens until earliest 2011 but i still can't wait to see how it is going to be adapted and i'm hoping fans of the show won't be disappointed!

Sub-Mariner

Jonathan Mostow's film adaption of 'Sub-Mariner' still seems to be in development after all these years with David Boreanaz rumored to play the title character Namor.

Nothing on the films seems to have been changed since Mostow's return to the script in 2007 but apparently is due for 2010 so we can only keep our eyes peeled and see how this pans out.
It would be interesting to see an aquatic superhero considering we've reached the heights of flying, swinging and thumping.

Evil Dead IV

It would appear that Sam Raimi has an awful lot on his plate. He along with Ivan Raimi are in the scripting stage of the next Evil Dead installment. Whether it's going to be a prequel a sequel or simply a remake is yet to be seen as no other details are avilable.

I remeber hearing of a remake which only included Bruce Cambell as producer/director but more news as it comes.

Halo

As we know at Comic-Con in San Diego this year Neil Blomkamp and Peter Jackson made an appearance to talk about 'District 9'. Jackson also made a talk about how 'The Hobbit' was coming on and also spoke of the 'Halo' movie which after months of working on, eventually collapsed due to legal reasons and the such. At the time Neil Blomkamp said that he would not direct the film if it ever got made, and this may well be true, but the film seems to have picked itself up, dusted off and got back to where it vaguely left off.

It is true that Blomkamp is no longer attached to it which is a shame after the fantastic 'District 9', however it looks like the movie is set for 2012..so a little while yet.

Stuart Beattie and Alex Garland are still writing an Jackson remains as one of the producers with Weta closely guarding the models and armour that have already been built...so just got to wait and see who will direct.

A Complaint

i have a complaint to make and it regards spoofs...in particular new spoofs! Why are they still being made?
'Meet the Spartans', 'Superhero Movie' and 'Date Movie'...what do they all share in common? Thats right, they're utter rubbish filled with nothing but the worst toilet humour and bangs to the head repeatedly while attempting to cross reference several different films each time and failing miserably...and yet they still get made, and people continue to watch them and so they get more financing and the viscous cycle begins again. So what do we have to look forward to next time, well it goes by the name of 'Disaster Movie'!!! so they're beginning to outline what their movies are like...sheer disasters!
It's bound to cover all the typical disaster films from the last couple of years...it might try and make a joke or two about Cloverfield...but i'm sure it will inevitably end up being that the monster is hurt by banging its head..and possibly a tornado will throw them all into another world briefly.who knows...who cares!
so there is my gripe...what happened to great comedies, ones you could guarantee a laugh rather than the occasional groan...PLEASE STOP MAKING THESE AWFUL FILMS!!

Smurfs...THE MOVIE!!!

Well i've got to give a mention of /film where i've got this piece of information that i wasn't aware of at all...so i looked it up a bit and IMDB are showing it as being in Pre-production. Thats right a real Smurf live action/CGI film.
It's to be directed by Colin Brady, a little known name in terms of directing having only directed one film previous to this...however Brady has been visual supervisor on anumber of great films...including E.T and Lemony Snicket...which means if anything that the film should have a great style and look to it!
at the moment the film has been properly cast and is being written by a new guy so we shall see...but apparently is set for a 2009 release!!
